Industrial Designer

The need: 

 
Total Marine Technology, as an Approved Subcontractor, is part of the team designing and building the next generation of Submarine Rescue Service for the Commonwealth of Australia supporting the Royal Australian Navy.  
Therefore, we are currently seeking an experienced Industrial Designer. 
The position is offered on a full-time, permanent or 12-month fixed term basis to the right candidates with minimum PR visa who are also eligible for Australian citizenship. 
 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Undertake 3D modelling and drafting in Solidworks of machines primarily used subsea 
  • Detailed drafting of machine components (mechanical drafting) 
  • Drafting of schematics in AutoCAD 
  • Reporting to project lead 
 

What you will bring: 

  • Engineering related diploma 
  • 5+ years of design/drafter experience  
  • Solid understanding of GD&T and drafting principles 
  • Proficient, advanced, fast and effective user of SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Solid understanding of PDM systems 
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic schematics 
  • ISO drawing standards 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at a time 
  • Ideally subsea design experience is preferred 
  • Perseverant and conscientious mind 
  • Candidates with interest in heavy industry but with industrial designer vein or even degree are encouraged to apply as the role may be flexible enough to suit the right candidate
